Although the fortress is perceived to be a secluded place, there is much to see and do in the area. Northern Gotland follows no rules and is completely unique in its kind. Everything on the main island is within short cycling distance and we are more than happy to let you borrow our bikes. For those who want to discover Fårö, the ferry is only 2 km (1.2 miles) away. Ask us and we will give you directions.

SOUTH BATTERY

There are walking paths within a stone's throw from the fortress. Stroll along on white limestone bordered by the sea and fields full of rich bird life.

BUNGENÄS LIMESTONE QUARRY

The water is not as turquoise as the Blue Lagoon, but the experience is at least just as grand. The limestone quarry is located in the middle of the Bungenäs nature reserve, which among other things consists of really old coniferous forest with a level of conservation. The reserve extends down to the irresistibly beautiful and open beach land.

Fårö

Straight across the sound lies the small island with its great drama; just ask Bergman. In addition to fantastic nature and beaches, you will find a lot of cafés and restaurants that make it a worthy detour. Don't miss Kuten's creperie.
